Covington County School District Executive Summary

Parents,

If you have a child who needs help, please read this and contact your Child Find Director. If your disabled child is not in school, we want to help you. The Covington County School District, in cooperation with the Mississippi Department of Education, is actively seeking children from birth through 21 years of age who have problems in the areas of:

  • Sight
  • Hearing
  • Speech
  • Learning
  • Physical
  • Mental

How to Get Help:

To refer your child in Covington County, call your Child Find Director, Rachel Rogers, 601-765-2104.

Your child will be evaluated to determine what educational program is needed; then, you and the child will meet with a representative from the School to discuss plans for a program.  The Covington County School District has special programs for:

Specific Learning Disabilities
Developmental Delays
Physical Disabilities
Mental Disabilities
Visual/Hearing Impairments
Speech/Language Disabilities

DON'T LET YOUR CHILD MISS GETTING THE HELP HE OR SHE NEEDS.

A child with a disability will often be able to progress in the normal school environment by using one of his strengths to compensate for that disability. The school can provide further assistance when necessary.
