I’m Ms. King
I love seeing the smile on a child’s face when he or she learns something new. I often think I was born a teacher. I am very excited about teaching your child and working with you this year. We are going to have a great year full of learning and fun. I believe in making learning fun so that children will look forward to learning. I would like to tell you a little about me.
I grew up the youngest of five children on the Smith / Covington county line. I am a graduate of Mize High School. I attended Itawamba Community College in Tupelo, Ms. I graduated from Jones County Community College in Ellisville, Ms. and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Ms.
I have two daughters. Megan (my oldest daughter), Wesley (her husband), and her children (JohnHenry,6; MarciJo,5) live in Guntown, Ms. My youngest daughter, Rachel, Cory (her husband), and their children (Gauge, 7; Dakota,3) live in Seminary, Ms. After my daughters got married, I moved around for a few years. I began my journey in Mize, Ms. Then I lived in Tupelo and Baldwyn, Ms. Next, I moved to Colorado and lived in the mountains at Groundhog Reservoir. After a while I became homesick for my family, and I moved back here to the Hopewell area. I wanted to begin teaching again and to my surprise, there was a need for a teacher at Hopewell Elementary, one of the schools where I had once loved teaching.
I have taught school for over 22 years. I taught at Hopewell for 2 years then left for many years. I have been back teaching at Hopewell for 4½ years. This is home for me.
I have 2 dogs: Diver (a 70-pound black Labrador that thinks he weighs 10 pounds) and Shot (an 8-pound Shihtzu that thinks he weighs 100 pounds). They both live in the house with me about 5 miles from the school.
I love all bright colors, Kool-aide, good food, all sports, all seasons, all flowers and good fellowship with friends and family. I am usually a very cheerful and easy-going person.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I will be glad to talk to you any time. Phone: Hopewell Elementary Office- 601-765-8568
